Learning outcomes

The main route of the intervention has a total length of approximately 6.600 meters starting from the intersection between the existing SS 38 with the Villa di Tirano roundabout, crosses the Adda river and runs alongside it on the hydraulic left up to the Campone terminal roundabout.

The municipalities crossed by the route are:
Bianzone, Villa di Tirano and Tirano, in the province of Sondrio.

The road section to be built corresponds to the «C1» category and is composed of a single carriageway with two lanes of 3,75 meters each and 1,5 meter side shoulders.

The main works of art consist of:

  • Three-span Stazzona bridge over the Adda river (L=180 metres)
  • Two-span bridge over the Adda river, in Tirano (L=112 metres)
  • “Il Dosso 1” artificial tunnel of approximately 515 metres
  • “Il Dosso” natural tunnel of approximately 968 metres
  • N. 1 Underpass of the FF.SS. and the SS 38 at the Villa di Tirano junction
  • N. 3 Under the main route to mend the local road system
  • N. 4 at-grade intersections consisting of roundabouts (radius 40 m) of Stazzona, Villa di Tirano, Tirano and Campone
  • N. 10 Sections of new roads which allow the reconnection of the existing local roads interfered with by the new route of the SS 38.
