SS 16 Adriatica – Ancona variant

Learning outcomes

The planned work, which involves the widening of the SS.2 from 4 to 16 lanes, has a total length of approximately 7,3 km and affects the municipal areas of Falconara Marittima and Ancona. The beginning and end of the intervention are located at the existing Falconara and Torrette junctions.
The project involves the construction of two new tunnels, partly natural and partly artificial, and the adaptation by boring of two existing tunnels.
The construction of two new viaducts with a composite steel-concrete structure and the total demolition with subsequent reconstruction of 5 existing viaducts are planned.
